Air as a medium prompts speculation about possible ecological and social states of aggregation. Being a volatile and invisible medium, it constantly evades us and therefore requires specific techniques and approaches in order to be experienced.

luftsäule (air column) translates the permanent weight of the air on our bodies in a twofold sense: as a pressing problem of the human-made climate crisis and as the actual weight of the air in the exhibition space – this is represented as a 672-kg pile of material.

gutes wetter deals with carbon capture, which is the technical process for storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The work is a site-specific experimental arrangement and uses the air exhaled by visitors and water vapor from filtered rainwater collected from outside Aufbau Haus. The basalt rock in the installation stores small amounts of CO2 from the surrounding air over the course of the exhibition. The title, which translates as »good weather«, evokes the possible consequences of applying this material on a planetary scale.
